WOW!…

What a busy few months its been, as you may know I have my own hairdressing and photography business and Christmas and January is the busiest time of the year for me so unfortunately I havent had time to do many new paintings.
The last paintings I did were back in November when I had the urge to paint some textured fat sheep! The first painting was a field of sheep with one cheeky sheep looking at you at the front. I wanted their bodies to be really textured so I used really thick acrylic paint and spread it around using a knitting needle because I knew a brush would flatten it out too much. I loved how this came out so I then went on to create another sheep on canvas called Flora! Again, I used a knitting needle for her body and because Flora is bigger I could use the knitting needle to create spirals in the paint to show her curly fleece! Flora has a yellow flower in her mouth and in the centre of the flower there are very fine strands of paint because I wanted the flower to appear fluffy, so I used a sewing needle to drag some whisps of paint across. I was again really pleased with this method and will definately use it again maybe in more of a floral painting some time in the near future. For now I have been commisioned to do another “Maisy the cow” painting with a pale blue background so I’ll crack on with that, then I plan to start thinking about my new summer collection of paintings, which may include some ice creams!
