A Work Completed – (at last!)

rainbow A Work Completed – (at last!)

Formally known as ‘A Work in Progress’, this piece of artwork has taken what seems like ages. With most of my art, I have a basic idea and it develops fairly rapidly into the finished piece - although not always as I originally visualised it. This piece seems to have had a mind of its own. My original idea of abstract shapes floating in space, developed into the fractured rainbow effect. The rainbow gradually got reflected down the fracture and the curvature of a planet became apparent. After further elaboration, I realised that the fractured rainbow needed a focal point. So - what do you normally expect to find at the end of a rainbow? - Except this time, it’s at the centre of my rainbow. This ‘pot of gold’ contains some sort of gold coloured crystallised fragments (possibly mica, I really don’t know), which reflect the light when viewed from different angles.

The finished piece is called “Rainbow in Curved Air”. The ‘Pot of Gold’ at the centre of the rainbow is beyond the reach of the inhabitants of the planet below, but it is within your reach. Please contact me if you if you would like to own a ‘pot of gold’. ‘Rainbow in Curved Air’ is available for sale at the Art House.
