A Graffiti Christmas

December 26, 2009 by Jo Gaulton · Leave a Comment

It’s that time of year again; the kids have started the Christmas holidays and are already proving to be a challenge!! I have been frantically rushing around to create the perfect family Christmas and trying to save a few quid by giving my time to make presents rather than buy them. This was a great success last year, so I am under a bit of pressure to try and top last years gifts. I have also invested in some art supplies for my children this year to try and encourage them into this wonderful creative world we artists live in. I think that art can be a great channel for letting off steam, expressing our thoughts and emotions and most importantly ‘keeping us occupied’ … perfect for kids and their parents!! Ha-ha!

Have you heard…part 2

December 19, 2009 by Emily Omara · Leave a Comment

attractions_white_tigers_close Have you heard...part 2Something furry in the freezer! - In my previous entry I ranted (and to a lesser extent ‘raved’) about a creationist zoo-farm - a family and school friendly attraction in Wraxall. Well things haven’t been very happy of late down on Noah’s Ark zoo-farm; there’s been a plethora of animal abuse allegations, controversial connections with circuses and inappropriate disposal of bodies. All very gruesome and macabre, which if I’m honest is probably where most of my fascination with this story comes from, particularly after a little delving into the subject and a root around on the Noah’s ark zoo-farm website. (Just to remind you, the website is 5% animal facts, booking tickets and conservation work - which you can’t really knock them for, and 95% creationist dribble - which you can.) Which is why I found it all a little odd, a little eerie and mildly amusing, so if you’re bored out there on the internet and fancy a good old chuckle, why not pay Noah’s Ark zoo-farm website a visit?

jesus-dinosaur Have you heard…In the press recently there have been article’s about a local happy clappy zoo farm (yeah you heard me, Zoo-Farm, whatever one of those is?) This sanctuary is called Noah’s Ark. I use the term ‘local’ awkwardly, it is local to me, but if anyone is actually reading this there’s somewhat of a possibility that it may not be local to you, and in many ways you can count yourself lucky, just wait till you hear this!

Land Art

img17t Land ArtLand Art (environmental sculpture) - After a few pints of the old giddy liquid at the Bridge Inn (Lynmouth), and the best 16oz rump steak in this plane of existence, I was foretold of a tranquil land mass off the shores of Ilfracombe known as Lundy.
